Renovation of the Cultural History Museum in the Gothic House, Bad Homburg Historical preservation meets modern renovation
A comprehensive renovation took place at the Museum in the Gothic House in Bad Homburg, aiming to preserve the building's historical integrity while integrating modern functionality. The project focused on renewing the old cement composite screed, which was affected by poorly adhering auxiliary layers, voids, and cracks.
The screed additions were renewed using UZIN PE 460 epoxy resin mortar and UZIN XS, while the old auxiliary layers were removed using modern milling techniques. The rough screed surface was stabilised with UZIN PE 414 BiTurbo. A fully reinforced PU leveling layer was applied as a decoupling measure with UZIN MK 92S and sanded fresh with UZIN Perlsand. Leveling was carried out with UZIN NC 570 at a thickness of 7-10 mm, supported by the use of the UZIN Pumptruck. Linoleum was bonded with UZIN LE 44, and before parquet installation, priming was done with UZIN PE 390. The upright oak slats were also bonded with UZIN MK 92S to create a robust and aesthetically pleasing surface.
