Renovation of listed office space in Zurich's main railway station Compensating for differences in height and laying new solid parquet flooring
At Zurich's main railway station, 600 m² of listed office space underwent extensive renovation in order to preserve the historic building while creating a high-quality foundation for the installation of new solid parquet flooring. As the existing solid parquet flooring had to be retained as a substrate, the focus was on precise preparation and technically demanding implementation.
A particular challenge was to compensate for height differences of 10 to 45 mm while adapting the logistics to the conditions of the building. A total of 20 tonnes of material had to be delivered in partial deliveries on pallets weighing a maximum of 400 kg due to low floor load capacities – a task that required careful planning and precise coordination.

UZIN NC 567 proved to be an excellent product in this project. After sanding and re-screwing the existing solid parquet flooring, the UZIN Multimoll Softsonic insulating and stress-relieving underlay was securely bonded with UZIN MK 92 S. Precise level adjustment was then carried out using UZIN Levelpin before the UZIN NC 567 thin screed was applied via the UZIN pump service. The low-stress application method resulted in an absolutely level surface, which served as the basis for laying the new solid parquet flooring.
The additional UZIN product range used – including UZIN Multimoll Top 4, UZIN Foam Expansion Strips, UZIN PE 414, UZIN PE 460 and UZIN Perlsand – demonstrated its full strength in combination. This perfectly coordinated system made the renovation of the listed office premises in Zurich's main railway station a successful project, despite large differences in height and complex logistics.
